In 2018, China officially promulgated its national strategy on “agriculture, rural areas and farmers”, known as “the National Strategy on the Revitalization of Rural Areas”, which promises great opportunities for Chinese and foreign companies in a wide variety of sectors. Government funds will be allocated to large infrastructure projects in the rural areas (utility, telecommunication, hospitals, irrigation facility etc.,), manufacturing of new generation farming equipment and drones, sustainable organic agriculture, animal husbandry, rural welfare and healthcare.
Our firm has been a pioneer in advising domestic and multinational corporations on the investment in agriculture, e.g. the use, rental and circulation of collectively-owned land, farm land and homestead, genetically modified agriculture, investment in crop production, animal husbandry breeding bases, issues concerning approvals on the commercialization of genetic-modified seeds and new plant variety over the past 10 years.
